Fulvia Plautilla was born about 185 CE. They arranged for Plautilla to marry Septimius's son and co-Emperor, Caracalla, in 202 CE. The marriage was unhappy & Caracalla despised Plautilla. In 205 CE, Plautilla's father was arrested and executed for treachery and she and her brother were exiled.

Plautilla (Caracalla Wife) Denarius NGC Ch VF Roman Emp AD 202 Venus Cupid Rev. This is a very well struck coin with mild device flattening from wear. The obverse portrait has a well-detailed face and hairstyle. The reverse is a Venus Vitrix with a little boy Cupid dancing around. Legends are well-raised and quite clear. The strike is moderately off-center, but not enough to obscure the content. The edge has a few small chips. Please see photos for views from a variety of angles.
