Galeria Valeria was the daughter of emperor Diocletian and wife of his co-emperor Galerius. When Galerius died in 311, she and her mother Prisca fled from the new emperor, Licinius, and after spending a year in hiding, they were captured and beheaded in Thessalonica, where this coin was minted.
