Ancient Roman terracotta vessel, 1st-4th century AD. Wheel-thrown earthenware jar with globular body, short neck, everted rim, and short pedestal/ring foot. Unglazed coarse fabric with natural surface patina. The pedestal base has a mostly flat underside that is not completely flat, with visible wheel marks from trimming. Likely used for storage of oils, cosmetics, or small gems in Roman households or provinces (possibly Egypt/Levant.) Intact with minor age-related wear. Genuine ancient artifact. A fine example of classical Mediterranean pottery craftsmanship. 5” x 4.5”
