Tacitus, a revered statesman claiming descent from the renowned Roman author Tacitus, held various civil offices throughout his long life, including two consulships, one under Valerian and another in 273, garnering widespread respect. His brief rule, spanning just over six months, concluded with his death from fever in Tyana, Cappadocia, around June 276.
