This beautiful NGC certified silver ancient Roman coin features Emperor Trajan Decius, who ruled between 249-251 AD. It is a double denarius denomination. (See photos). Trajan Decius was a Roman emperor (249–251) who fought the Gothic invasion of Moesia and instituted the first organized persecution of Christians throughout the empire.

NGC XF Antoninianus of Trajan Decius AD249-251 Decius, a respected leader during Philip the Arab's reign, became emperor after quashing a rebellion in Moesia. In 249, he defeated and killed Philip, earning Senate recognition. Decius aimed to strengthen Rome and its religion, initiating the Decian persecution that led to the death of prominent Christians. Co-ruling with his son Herennius Etruscus, both met their end in the Battle of Abritus against the Goths.
