Extremely rare AE2 of Valentinian III (425-455 AD), Constantinople, Roman Empire

A coin of highest rarity, with only a handful of known examples. Unpublished reverse type, with Emperors NOT nimbate. This situation is always reversed on coins of Theodosius. It is possible the the coins were minted before and during 450 AD, the mourning being, of course, for the death of Theodosius II. ".

Saloninus (Publius Licinius Cornelius Saloninus Valerianus) was the younger son of Emperor Gallienus and held the title of Caesar from 258 to 260 CE. His brief and tragic career epitomizes the instability of the Crisis of the Third Century, when imperial authority fractured under constant military rebellion.
