Published by on July 15, 2026 Septimius Severus Denarius NGC VF Roman Empire AD 193-211 Laureate/Hero Neptune. Strongly struck with light wear on the obverse, moderate on the reverse. The portrait is very detailed and full of character, appearing to reveal a personality. The reverse has a nude, muscular, heroic Neptune holding a trident and with a leg lifted and resting on a globe or rock. Obverse legend is very clear; reverse letters are clear but a few are missing. The strike is very slightly off-center so that the rim beads at the bottom of the obverse are missing. There is also some extra planchet metal outside the strike area. The edge is slightly uneven and has one or two small chips. Please see photos for views from various angles.
