She was the daughter of the Roman emperor Antoninus Pius (reigned from 138–161) and Faustina I (c. 90–141 AD); married her cousin Marcus Annius Verus, and later the emperor Marcus Aurelius (reigned from 161–180), in 145. She gave birth to 14 children.
