This coin was issued to mark the foundation of Constantinople and to also re-affirm Rome as the traditional center of the Empire. Constantinopolis Commemorative Bronze AE3. Minted in Constantinople, circa 333-335 AD (during the lifetime of Constantine the Great!). Obverse: CONSTAN-TINOPLI; Helmeted and laureate bust of Constantinopolis left. Reverse: Victory standing front, looking left, foot on prow of a galley, holding transverse sceptre and resting hand on shield. Mintmark: CONSZ.
