NGC VF Roman Antoninianus of Gallienus AD253-268 Publius Licinius Egnatius Gallienus served as the Roman emperor alongside his father Valerian from 253 to 260 and independently from 260 to 268. His reign coincided with the Crisis of the Third Century, posing a serious threat to the empire. While achieving military successes against usurpers and Germanic tribes, he couldn't prevent the secession of crucial provinces. Born into a wealthy senatorial family, Gallienus, the son of Valerian and Mariniana, had a 15-year rule, marking the longest in half a century.
