NGC VF BI Double Denarius of Tetricus II AD274 ROMANO-GALLIC EMPIRE The Gallic Empire, born during Emperor Gallienus's reign as a breakaway from the Roman Empire, encompassed Britannia, Hispania, and Gaul. Tetricus II, the son of Tetricus I, who served as Emperor of the Gallic Empire from 271 to 274, ascended to the rank of Caesar in 273. Holding the title of princeps iuventutis, he commenced his first consulship alongside his father in January 274. Following the defeat and removal of his father by Emperor Aurelian in the autumn of 274, both Tetricus II and his father appeared as captives in Aurelian's triumph.
