NGC VF BI Double Denarius of Tetricus I ROMANO-GALLIC EMPIRE NGC Antoninianus

NGC VF BI Double Denarius of Tetricus AD271 - 274 ROMANO-GALLIC EMPIRE The Gallic Empire, a breakaway state from the Roman Empire during Emperor Gallienus's rule, comprised Britannia, Hispania, and Gaul. Gaius Pius Esuvius Tetricus, initially governor of Gallia Aquitania, became its emperor from 271 to 274 AD after the murder of Emperor Victorinus. Tetricus faced external threats from Germanic raiders and internal challenges, leading him to appoint his son, Tetricus II, possibly as co-emperor. Roman Emperor Aurelian invaded in 273 or 274, resulting in the Battle of Châlons and Tetricus's surrender. Whether the capitulation was part of a secret agreement or a necessity is debated. Aurelian spared Tetricus, making him a senator and governor. Tetricus died a few years after 274 from natural causes. NGC VF Roman AE3/4 Constantine I ROMA / SHE WOLF & TWINS ROMULUS & REMUS Reverse

NGC VF Roman AE Urbs Roma AD 330-346 In Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus are twin brothers whose tale explains the founding of Rome. Raised by a she-wolf after being abandoned, they grew up unaware of their royal lineage. Eventually, they discovered their true identities and overthrew the usurper king, Amulius, with the help of their grandfather. However, they disagreed on where to build their city, leading to Remus' death and Romulus founding Rome on the Palatine Hill. This myth, though set before Rome's founding, has been a symbol of the city since ancient times, with ongoing debates about its historical basis and interpretations.
