Published by on July 15, 2026 Gratian AE Nummus NGC XF Roman Empire AD 367-383 Captive Soldier Clear Chi-Rho. The coin is well-struck and well-detailed, while showing some flattening of higher points from wear. The obverse portrait shows the increased stylization occurring on the coins of the era. Legend letters are clear on both sides, although they are right on the edge of the metal and a few have small parts cut off by this. The reverse is a dramatic scene of a soldier holding down a kneeling captive, while holding a banner with a clear Chi-Rho symbol displayed, something of great interest.
